Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She was raised within a multiethnic household. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim, a Malaysian. Her siblings include two brothers and an older sister. She was raised and born in Bahrain. Her parents had relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil that occurred in Sri Lanka. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney following her graduation from Bahrain. An avid lover of different cultures and languages, she attended Berlitz Language School in which she learned Spanish as well as enhancing her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006 she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Following that, she stepped into television to host a program on Sri Lankan businesses known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen and Bangalore. She was a badminton player at the national championships when she was an teen, but she gave up her sport career to pursue a career as a model. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her native language. Padukone Village is located in Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District in Karnataka in India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the 80s. She has a mother who runs who worked for a travel agency, also hails from this village.
